Aarav Agrawal

Meet the founder

A leader who knows the journey personally

Hi! I'm Aarav Agrawal. I was born in Thailand and raised in Mexico, and I’ve lived in several different countries before moving to the U.S. as a high schooler. Because of my experiences moving between cultures and languages, I know firsthand the challenges that immigrant students face, especially when it comes to learning in a language that isn’t your first.

I started ESL Teen Tutors because I wanted to create a community where students struggling with English, or any language barrier, can get personalized, one-on-one support from peers who understand them. I’ve personally tutored students in English, Spanish, and Hindi, and I’ve seen how much of a difference a patient, culturally aware tutor can make. Our program connects certified teen tutors with younger students, giving them guidance in their native language while also helping tutors gain teaching experience and volunteer hours.

My goal is simple: to make learning accessible, empowering, and relatable for every student navigating the challenges of a new language or school system.

From Helping One Student to Transforming Communities

As we grew, we discovered that our impact went far beyond academic improvement. We were building confidence, breaking down cultural barriers, and creating role models for the next generation.

The Foundation

Aarav's global experiences became the blueprint for ESL Teen Tutors. We started with a simple mission: connect students with tutors who speak their language and understand their culture.

25

students helped in our first month

The Confidence Effect

We noticed something remarkable: students weren't just improving grades - they were raising their hands in class, joining clubs, and becoming leaders among their peers.

78%

of students reported increased confidence in speaking up in class

The Community Ripple

Families began connecting with each other, sharing resources, and supporting one another. Our tutoring sessions became community building sessions.

92%

of families reported feeling more connected to their community

The Numbers Tell a Story of Real Transformation

These aren't just statistics - they represent real students, real families, and real change happening in our communities.

5.2 grade points

Average improvement in just 2 months

Students who were struggling with C's and D's are now earning B's and A's. But more importantly, they're developing study habits that last.

73%

of students report feeling more confident speaking English

Language barriers don't just affect grades - they affect confidence. Our students are finding their voices in and out of the classroom.

92%

said their grades improved

From 'I hate homework' to 'Can I show you what I learned today?' - that's the transformation we're seeing in homes across our community.

2.4 hours

average time students spend on homework now vs. 0.5 hours before

When students understand the material and feel supported, they actually want to learn more. That's the power of confidence.

Meet the Students Who Inspire Us
